Mildred, an 11-year-old girl, finds her life disrupted when her estranged father, Strawn Wise, unexpectedly reappears. Strawn, once a well-known magician, has been out of Mildred’s life for years, leaving her to grow up without much contact from him. Now tasked with taking care of her, Strawn tries to rebuild a connection that has long been broken.
